What if we don't agree on everything?
You don't need to. Most couples I work with agree on more than they expect and are working through one or two harder decisions, like the house, support, or the parenting schedule.
Mediation gives you both a calm, structured place to work through those decisions together, so the outcome stays in your hands instead of a judge's.

How it works
As a neutral mediator, I guide both of you with the same care and balanced perspective, so each of you is heard and every decision is one you both accept.
Plan your divorce
We begin with a free 30-minute consultation. I walk you through the process, identify where you already agree and what still needs attention, and we map out a clear plan.
Reach agreement on the remaining decisions
In mediation sessions held online, we work through property, debts, support, and parenting at a pace that feels manageable for both of you.
Prepare and file your documents
Once you agree, I prepare every required form. You both review and sign, and I file with the court so you don't need to appear.
Most cases are completed in three months or less, depending on how quickly you reach agreement and how fast the court processes your filing.

I'm Bronwyn Galloway. I've worked in San Francisco's legal community since 1995, first in law offices and, since 2019, leading Divorce With Dignity in San Francisco.
I hold a law degree and a master's in social psychology, and I'm a certified mediator and registered Legal Document Assistant. You'll work with me directly, from our first conversation to your final filing.

Common questions
Is a mediated divorce legally binding in California?
Yes. Once you reach agreement, your settlement is written into your court documents, filed, and entered by the court as a judgment, just like any other divorce.
What if we don't agree on everything?
That's completely normal, and it's exactly what mediation is for. We start with where you already agree, then work through the rest together. You don't need everything settled before you reach out.
Do we both need to take part?
Yes. Mediation works when both spouses participate. If your spouse isn't willing, let me know on our call and I'll help you think through other options.
Are sessions online or in person?
Mediation sessions are held online, so you can join from wherever you feel most comfortable, and I can meet with each of you separately when that's easier.
Do we each need our own lawyer?
No. Many couples complete their divorce without separate attorneys. Either of you is always welcome to consult a lawyer, and I'll let you know if your situation calls for one.
Are you an attorney?
No. I hold a law degree but don't practice law. I'm a certified mediator and a registered Legal Document Assistant, which means I don't give legal advice or represent either spouse.
Do we have to go to court?
In most amicable divorces, no. Once you're in agreement, I prepare and file your documents so you don't need to appear in court. If a hearing is ever required, I'll tell you up front.
How long does it take?
Most of my cases are completed in three months or less. Your timeline depends on how quickly you reach agreement and how fast the court processes your paperwork.
What's included in the $2,500 fee?
Divorce planning, mediation, and the preparation and filing of your court documents. Court filing fees are separate and paid directly to the court.
How much are court filing fees?
Usually between $430 and $800, paid to the court. Most clients spend under $5,000 in total.
Can mediation work if we have children?
Yes. Together we work through custody, a parenting schedule, and child support, including the support calculations.
Can mediation work if we own a home or have retirement accounts?
Yes. Dividing a home, debts, and retirement accounts is a normal part of mediation.
What happens to our home if it's held in a living trust?
The home is still part of what you'll divide, and we address it in your agreement. The trust itself will likely need to be updated once your divorce is final. Bring your trust documents to our consultation and we'll talk through it.
What happens after we reach agreement?
I prepare your judgment and the rest of your paperwork, you both review and sign, and I file everything with the court and keep you updated until your divorce is final.
What if one of us changes their mind?
Mediation is voluntary, so either of you can pause. If that happens, we'll talk openly about what your options are from there.
